A Twist Of Time - Session Images and Womad Clips

Here is a selection of images captured during the 2012 'Twist Of Time' recording sessions. The album was recorded in 24 hours over a two month period. Images by Sandra Ireland.

We launched at the 2012 Womad Festival in Wiltshire - a great live outing of the entire album featuring Stroud band The HitchHoppers.
The song is Red House - quite different from the album version The 'Devil's Song', as Joe from the band described it...

Our gig at the festival took place on July 29th.

So we danced the night away until One or later...but at 18.00hrs we were on-stage at Molly's Bar with the first live run though of the new album 'A Twist Of Time'.

It was a fantastic event with some stunning new versions of songs such as 'I Can't Cry', 'Money Matters' and a chilling ' Shropshire Lad'. There were tears!

We played for a full hour to an appreciative and laid-back Womad crowd. Unforgettable!

Look out for a dance remix of 'The Bridge' soon.

And one short hour later, Dave took on the role of DJ with a hot dance set including Donna Summer, Fred Astaire and Madonna amongst others. The Dancing did not stop...

David Ireland - A Twist Of Time - The New Album

A Twist Of Time - The New Album by David Ireland - Launched live at WOMAD on 29th July 2012

http://timeaftertime.bandcamp.com/

A Twist Of Time was recorded in the Cotswolds between April and July. The album
features fourteen tracks recorded with the cream of local musicians.

Ireland describes A Twist Of Time as 'a concept album for the twenty-first century'.

The themes are Time, Money, Life and Death. The songs were written while the album was
taking shape in the studio. There is a spontaneous and almost organic feel to the tracks.
Subject matter is as diverse as warfare, 911, global recession and the transience of life.
There are also a couple of love songs in there too!

Ireland began performing in the 60s and has remained fresh and involved with current
music. As he tells us, '...some of the musicians on the album are quite young. Amazingly
talented, but many of them are under 25. The energy they create and the spontaneity of
their musicianship is astounding. I felt truly privileged to share my music with them'.

A Twist Of Time is out now, on Double Infinity Records and is available for immediate
download at http://timeaftertime.bandcamp.com/

The musician include David Ireland: Vocals, Guitar, Keyboards, Percussion, Rufus Fry:
Harmonica and Melodian, Shane Boothby: Bass, Mark Goudswaard: Guitar, Callum
Partridge: Drums, Stephan Marlot: Cello, Patsy Gamble: Sax, Josh Richards: Ukulele,
Laura Manley: Acoustic Riffs, Sandra Ireland: Vocals and Coco: Ambient Barking!

The track-listing includes:
I Can’t Cry
Money Matters
Sure Feels Like The Blues
A Shropshire Lad
Firenze
Curious Café
Time After Time After Time
Barafundle
Red House
The Bridge
Skunk!
New York Broads

David Ireland and some of the musicians will be launching 'A Twist Of Time' live at the
30th WOMAD festival on Sunday July 29th at Molly's Bar in the Electro Swing tent. The
concert starts at 18.00hrs.

'This has been such an exhilarating ride' Ireland commented during a band practice this
week. 'Everything seems to be falling into place. The album is ready, the artwork looks
fantastic...the guys in the band are ready to go... This could be our time!'

A Twist Of Time is packed with memorable tunes and performances and the sum of the
parts provides a thought-provoking package.

A Twist Of Time is out now on Double Infinity Records as a download at

Time After Time Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of The Beatles in Stroud

Time After Time - The Vintage Hour

On the 31st of March 1962, The Beatles played the first of two concerts at the Subscription Rooms in Stroud. The line-up was Pete Best, George Harrison, John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
To celebrate the anniversary, Time After Time Presenter Dave Ireland has compiled a special show of archive tunes, requests and classic tracks. The choice was hard - and if your favourite is missing - then let us know. But for now, sit back and re-live with us our celebration of 50 years of The Beatles in Stroud!

...and to cap it all...Time After Time were on the guest list for the 50th Anniversary gig at the Stroud Subscription Rooms.

The atmosphere was electric as we poured into the 'Subs' at 7.30 for the 8 o'clock show. The ballroom was full to capacity, and once the boys started, the familiar songs flowed thick and fast and Beatle maniacs of every age sang along to all of those songs they knew so well.

The Time After Time Team took to the floor and nimble feet were the order of the evening. I Saw Her Standing There, I Feel Fine, She Loves You, Paperback Writer, Hey Jude, Come Together, Eleanor Rigby, Lady Madonna, Penny Lane, All You Need Is Love and so many more incredible songs were performed with energy and fun and we had the time of our lives!

Just click on the link below for a taste of what we enjoyed on this amazing anniversary evening.

New Broom at Time After Time

Monday saw Dave at the Stroud shop...

'I expected a quiet Monday, time to re-stock after Saturday's blitz. So many pieces that needed replacing. And the first of this season's straw hats came in - and went out almost at once! Spring is almost here. Still sold a fur and some tweeds though... But Monday was anything but quiet and turned out to be a better day than Saturday. More tweeds, more straws...and sunglasses and brooches and a flat cap or two destined for the Cheltenham Gold Cup...'

But in between, the shop was polished and tidied and the shoes were stacked in a new display system, the button drawers were emptied and cleaned in readiness for the sunglasses and specs. Sandra has been constructing a new chest of drawers to sit on top of the plan chest at the front of the store. It will be filled with buttons and watch faces and buckles and all kinds of fabulous bits and bobs.

...but Tuesday was a little more sedate. Toby was in town today - came home with a wish-list as long as his arm. Indian waistcoats, long thin leather belts and a pink bowler to find among other things...

What fun we have!
