David Ireland: The New Album

A Twist Of Time

I'm preparing tracks for my forthcoming sessions. This will be an exciting time for me, mainly because I'm reworking some recently discovered masters of a set of recordings I made in 1977. We remastered the tracks at Peter Gabriel's Real World Studios, and
frankly, I was astonished at the quality of some of the tracks. We also discovered a couple that had not been heard since the original sessions.

'Over the coming months I will be recording re-worked versions of some of the 1977 tracks, plus a whole slew of new numbers. The album promises to be a revealing and autobiographical  collection of songs and will include; Green Fingers, The Day That Elvis Died, Black Hole, Boy In The Attic, Bang Bang Bang Bang, Secret Lovers, Horn Of Plenty and many more.'

Featured musicians to include John Gardner, Ade & Barbara Miller, Callum Partridge, Patsy Gamble, Jan Stavinoha, Stephan Marlot, Cees v.d. Laarse, Hans van Epen, Rufus Fry, Gerard Jeltes and Hessel de Vries.

'The blend of new recordings and re-worked '77 sessions are meshing beautifully and the prospect of recording with my younger self is exhilarating. There is a harder band sound to the new tracks, still very blues and rock based, but with some softer edged numbers in there too. One of my current favourites is a tune called 'One Good Year'. Very Beatle-esque.'

The album is scheduled for a Spring 2013 release on Double Infinity Records followed by a series of gigs across the country.

'The gigs will be a mixture of solo nights and band performances, depending on venue. The songs are all written to be performed solo or with any combination of players.'
